A very brief Farm Note this week to share with you the sad news of the passing of Chris’ mom.
I’d mentioned in a previous Farm Note that her health had declined rapidly in the last several months—something we knew would come given her health throughout the last few years, but is always harder when the reality arrives.
We said goodbye to her last Sunday and have spent the week navigating the aftermath of losing a parent and loved one and the responsibility of managing her affairs.
Unfortunately I was only feeling mildly better since last week but very fortunately Chris hasn’t caught my crud—that’s the very last thing he needed this week when he’s really needed his strength and good health the most.
As often happens around here…when one tough thing comes, generally there are a few other curveballs in tow (for us it reliably comes in threes), and beginning last Friday Molly-Max went completely lame in his front left hoof.
After a week of working through it on our own, we needed an emergency vet appointment Friday night and we’re so grateful to our equine vet and her husband who have been life savers for us and for Molly-Max. We could have never managed his care the way we have without them making house calls like they do.
Molly-Max is going to be ok and I’ll tell you all about him and everything going on in next week’s Farm Note, once we’ve had a chance to catch our breath.
Do us a favor and give those you love a big tight squeeze today, or pick up the phone and for those you can’t, let them know you love them.
You could say it a million times over and still somehow it never quite feels like enough when you no longer have the chance to say it one more time.
So sorry for your loss.
So sorry for Chris’s loss of his Mom. Prayers for you all on this tough week.
