Merry Christmas from the Little Dream Farm, friend!
As we head into the holiday midweek and round out the final days of 2024, Chris and I are wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
Wherever you are.
However you celebrate.
Whatever you celebrate.
Whomever you celebrate with.
Whether the weather is good or bad.
Whether you’re feeling happy or sad.
Whether there’s much to celebrate or not…
May you give yourself love and grace this season and may you take stock of and be grateful for the fullness of your life.
This year marks the thirteenth Christmas Chris and I have known each other. We’re celebrating our eleventh Christmas together as partners. Of those 11, this will be the eighth we’ll spend in person together and I wasn’t deployed or stationed away from Chris.
This is the seventh Christmas without my dad. It’s our fourth Christmas without our beloved senior lady cats, Melky and Boonce. The third without the unforgettable Mr. B. This is the first Christmas without Chris’ mom.
For all the cheer the holidays can bring, they sure can drudge up the sad stuff, too, and amplify the things we don’t have and those we miss…sometimes more so than the good things and the loved ones right here in front of us.
So, may you hang on a little tighter to the ones you love. May your thoughts linger on the good things…on the little and simple and special things. May you let yourself feel and acknowledge and sit with the not-so-wonderful things to honor how you feel. Hopefully that acknowledgement doesn’t steal too much of today’s joys…and even if it does, may you go easy on yourself in this season.
We started somewhat of a tradition here on the Little Dream Farm where instead of taking holiday photos to put on Christmas cards…we’ve just simply taken family photos together on Christmas day.
So here’s a look back at our first, second, and third Christmas on the LDF.
We’re beyond blessed to have and share another together this year.
