A book club is definitely on my list for this year - I have SO many TBR books - it's a bit ridiculous and I can't resist a used book sale!! The next one sounds awesome with a Michigan connection. It's inspiring that your finding joy so close to home
Thank you for that last sentence...mmm that felt so good to read. And I can't wait to hear about how your book club adventure goes--do share if you think of it! My list is long too and I am trading social media and Netflix this year for reading. As of January 1 I am signed out of Netflix and I'm on a self-imposed social scrolling ban for this entire month. I already feel lighter. My head is clearer. I've been happier...it's been five days. I can't wait to see how I feel at the end of the month. I can't wait to see how many books I'll have read by the end of this year! It's so exciting!!
Your wrapping evening just before Christmas sounds absolutely lovely 🥰
Medical things have always interested me, so I am curious to read the Martha Ballard novel. Did you read the January novel first and the more factual account after? Which would recommend first?
It was such a great idea and we said we'd plan to do it again this year!
I read the novel without having any idea what the story was about and didn't even bother to read the back cover of the book...my new friend just said it was a great read so I took her word for it! I then found out about the factual book and a few women at Book Club said they read it. If you want to be entertained, read the novel first. If you'd love to learn more about her and compare how the story stacks up, read the Ulrich book second. Up to you!

Going yo recommend both books to my book club!
I'll ask the shop owner how she comes up with her picks...I'm so curious to know HOW she chooses from soooo many options!
Both books sound wonderful! I’ll definitely read them both. 🫶🏼
I hope you do enjoy them!!!
Thanks for the reading ideas!! Nothing like a good reading club!!
You're quite welcome - I'll keep 'em coming and also plan to share the things I'm reading outside of book club!!
