Hi Sarah. So happy to read your note and see that you're really coming back into yourself now. I feel like it is showing through in your words as well. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us, especially when its garnered from enduring tough times. Its so valuable! I loved going back to watch the videos of Molly-Max, my heart swelled up to see how far you have all come together. I remember you sharing video of the buggos when you first went to visit them before they came home to the Little Dream Farm. As the song in one of the videos says, "don't worry, good things will come". So true xxx

Thank you Sarah! Aww it feels like so long ago that I used to go visit them and bring them snacks. I remember back then just wanting donkeys so badly. Guess the universe had a totally different plan in store for us to have THESE donkeys. I wouldn't have it any other way. Really appreciate your kind words - there's this saying, "You have to act your way into a new way of being." I am taking that very literally these days!

It’s great to hear you are starting to feel like your old self, Sarah! With the switch to Daylight Savings Time a lot of people start to feel better mentally too. Seasonal affective disorder is a real thing. Good old sunshine will help.

Those buggos sure did hit the lottery when they were adopted by you and Chris. They and BK and of course Mister B are my favorite rescue stories.

Here’s to feeling better! Cheers!

I used to say very dramatically as a teen that I felt like I had SAD but truly I do believe all my life I've not thrived in the winter months. Chris came home from a work trip recently and sat me down and said, "You know, we've got to figure out how to get you out of here for a few weeks next winter...so let's start figuring that out now." We're exploring an option for me to be able to go somewhere warm from the end of January to the beginning of March while he stays home and handles the farm. I'm going to take him up on it and make the plans! I'm already daydreaming of warm sandy beaches.

Hello Sarah & Chris,

I was glad to be able to read your last 2 weeks post this morning after a well deserved vacation cruise.

I'm very happy to hear that your body especially your back is on the mend and that you were able to get out and enjoy nature at its best. You deserve that and know being outdoors is a HUGE boost for you both.

Hard to believe that your two wonderful donkeys have been with you for three years. They're lucky to have been adopted by such caring people and you never gave up on them.

Have an incredible week and Harper and I will have to definitely plan a trip up during the summer for a day or two.

Hi Bill and Harper!! Glad you had a chance to go on a cruise—seems like lots of people are getting back out on them as of late!!!! The donkeys really have come such a long way and I’m forever proud and amazed at Molly-Max. He has such a fighting spirit and I was reminded of that so many times throughout these last few months. If he could do it with his old banged up body, certainly I can too. ❤️

One day at a time! I’m proud of you for working hard, but also resting! Did giving up so much of the sugar etc, help with inflammation? I’m in the same boat as you including back stuff! Praying for you! 🙏🏻❤️

Amy! For me, cutting out gluten has been making the biggest difference of all. But yes, I’ve noticed a huge change from sugar, too. I already didn’t eat a whole lot of sugars or added sugar but right now everything I do eat, mostly fresh and dried fruits, tastes so much better and so much sweeter. Certainly, cutting sugar helps with reducing inflammation overall, as well as removing as many processed ingredients from the diet as possible. Ask away if you have more questions—this is one of the things I can nerd out on the most…nutrition!

Howdy! A few different comments:

1. I watched all three Buggo videos and was in tears. Such precious beings they are (and I had no idea MM was that age!). Frankly, the same goes for you and Chris.

2. I missed you saying you lost your job before Christmas, and I've been so worried thinking it probably did happen but not seeing reference to it. Is there any chance that the court orders being issued (for firing people over bogus "performance" issues) could reverse this for you?

3. To a much lesser degree, I have almost the same issue with my thoracic spine. It's insane to have a condition that makes standing (and sitting, for Pete's sake!) so agonizing, while walking (moderately) helps. My entire life is in shambles, and I mean every aspect of it, and what you've shared about your health and lifestyle and efforts to heal really sank into me today like water pouring over dry soil. I know the steps I need to do to start getting better, but taking action and doing them seems herculean. I think I'll reread this column a few times for another inspiration boost, as you so often give me.

4. It's funny how I feel connected to you as if we've been friends for a long time! Somehow you transcend the page and the posts and turn into this very real entity for me. I am grateful to you for this gift, the gift of YOU. Please know that I carry you and Chris and the Furmers and Buggos in my thoughts and that I root for you in everything you do!

Hi Maria!

1. Haha told ya they'd put you in your feels! Real tear jerkers.

2. My boss let me go just five days before Christmas. It had nothing to do with the federal firings...just a one off unfortunate event. I quickly got another job only to find out I'll lose this current role too due to the return to in person work policies. So...I'm working on what's next for me.

3. I'm sorry to hear you've got a lot going on right now...certainly I empathize with that! Please do reach out if there's some way I can help guide your next steps!

4. THIS. Where do I even begin. Thank you for saying such an incredibly kind thing...I don't even know how to form the words to describe the way this deeply touches me. Please just know that it means more to me than I can say.

Hi Sarah. I am happy that you are starting to see the light along your route towards feeling better. On a personal note - I have found my mental wellbeing is so deeply linked to my physical wellbeing ......I am finding looking at photos and videos of the good times with mum and kitty Nola who both passed a year apart in January has helped me cope. It reminds me that our lives are a cycle - both mentally and physically. I wish you well in your recuperation. You will get there💝

Hi Maggie! Thank you so much for the encouragement. That’s so true what you’ve said—they’re definitely linked!! You must be missing them so badly but I’m glad that you can find comfort in their memories and watching back all the good times. Certainly life is a precious, precious gift. Wishing you peace in your missing them. We’ll get there, won’t we?!

Sarah, I look for your writing every Sunday, I love that you share your thoughts and ideas I’m sure Judy would have loved reading them also, You and Chris are great together.

I can’t be sure if you are still in the USAF but if you are I’m sure you are maybe a LC and I’m proud you stayed in, I’m sorry for all your medical problems but know what you go through with your back I’m 85 now and have bulging issues with my back and neck. But for me it comes with age, you deserve to be healthy. I pray you will get better, have a good life. Sending love.

Hi Bob! Always love hearing from you and can’t believe it has been so long since I’ve had a proper hug from you at the diner. You and Judy cross my mind every now and then and I know you’re missing her terribly. I know Judy—she’d be incredibly proud of how you’ve carried on. I’m still a Reservist in the Air Force and I am up for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel this year—I should find out whether or not I’ve made it before the end of the year so keep your fingers crossed for me. I meet the board in September. Sorry to hear you’ve been having back and neck issues—I have so much empathy for anyone experiencing that kind of pain, as it’s very difficult. Thank you for reading the Farm Note and for staying in touch. Love you Bob!!!!
