The only time I get to see such precious animals is at our local 4-H Fair! Visiting all the places would be wonderful!

I only got to do one stop on the tour: the Battenkill Fibers mill. Absolutely worth going next year, if you get the chance. We got to see the whole process of how shorn wool gets turned into yarn. Very cool! I wish I could have stopped at some of the farms. It sounds like you had a great time. That cashmere goat is amazing!

Looks like a TOTALLY fun day! We have a local lady Alpaca farmer and she has makers who craft her alpaca fur into all sorts of wearables. I have two different pieces from her stand at our Farmer's Market. Did you know that alpaca fur is great for birds nests? Lots of people put out fabric for the birds to pull strings from or dryer lint. Neither have been found to be good for the birds. Baby birds can strangle in the fabric strings and dryer lint stays wet if it rains and baby birds get too cold and die. Alpaca fur is naturally water resistant and dries quickly once wet. I have 3 alpaca fur "balls" basically a twisted reed ball stuffed with alpaca fur in our yard. I got mine from the alpaca farmer, but I have seen them on Amazon. Search for "alpaca fur balls."

Looks like a fabulous time! There are farms in MD and VA that offer goat snuggles or goat yoga retreats... in case you talk Chris into getting goats for your farm.... 🤗

Looks like a great time! Thank You for sharing!

Have you heard of the Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, New York? My sister has been going to this for a number of years and she loves it. It’s in the fall.
