Your message resonates with me. Speaking for myself, it is so easy to get caught up in a longing/dream/future plan that I lose sight of what is happening in the here and now. As you said, all we have is this second. Having dreams and plans and aspirations are essential to living but it is so vitally important to embrace the moment. I believe it was John Lennon who said something to the effect that life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.
Which brings me to your quote from Mary Oliver. My mother impressed on me to notice the beauty around me. This certainly requires being in the moment.
Finally, there is a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, " Many eyes go through the meadow but few see the flowers in it. " Be sure to take time to see the flowers. And tell someone about them.
This morning as I’m reading your thoughts, I felt the tears fill my eyes, realizing I need to be “driving at night” so I don’t forget I only have this moment. Yes, I have seen Komorebi many, many times, never knowing there was a word for it. For me, it was a spiritual event from the heavens.
I love how you can write your thoughts & feelings so well. So young but so wise. Thank you, Sarah. 🫶🏼
