Not going to lie, my heart sank a little at the thought of you moving from LDF. Probably because I don’t like surprises and it felt like that, I am sorry this did not work out but you will find your place and it will be perfect for you just how LDF came into your life 😊
I’m sorry that you weren’t able to buy the old farmhouse. Speaking from my experience though you made the right decision. We purchased an old farmhouse on 8 acres in 1998. It was build in 1816. We did do an inspection but not as thorough as you and Chris did (kudos to you for that). I don’t want to say our house is a money pit but we have probably spent six figures over the years. We are now faced with a mold remediation issue and would need to move everything from our basements and probably be out of the house with our two senior cats for at least two weeks. We love our house but it is a labor of love!
Sarah and Chris what I think happened was the universe was on your side. Maybe I misunderstood but it seems that the house was golden on the outside and bad news on the inside.
You did the work thankfully….nothing having to do with it’s meant to be. How I read this was it would be a money suck (sorry language). They did you a big favor.
Sorry it didn’t work out. I grew up in an old money pit that my mom should have never bought so it is good you were thorough with inspections. Those puffy women’s jackets are popular as they are sold out.
Truly I think you & Chris dodged a bullet. That house sounded like a huge money pit. I don't know your reasons for wanting to move states but my thinking is if its just for a bigger house, why not put an addition on LDF? You can always get more animals.
Good morning, Sarah. So sorry to hear about the property disappointment. Ouch! Sounds like you & Chris had all your bases covered to bring that old home back. Your mom’s words were words to remember. Keep your chin up. There’s another place out there for you both…if that’s what the universe wants for you two. Even though Gerry & I love our home, we still keep our eyes open, just in case that special place pops up for us & our kitties.
Hi! I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work out. My two cents: sounds like you may have dodged a bullet given that you were the only ones in the running. And after having such an amazing outcome with the LDF and David, karma was most likely nudging you to protect yourselves from sellers with less integrity. Live and learn, right?!
I think what I meant to say is you did the work, a lot of work, the right work and made a generous offer. You did all the smart things. PAT yourselves on the back. You guys are really savvy
I'm sorry to hear you won't be moving here to Connecticut. But I'm glad that you had the courage to walk away even after all the time (and money) you spent researching the place. I am a huge believer in "what is meant to be, will be" but that doesn't mean you don't have to work for it. If you don't mind me asking, where about in CT were you looking? You can just mention County if you don't want to name the town. Keep looking. You will find it.
You were so smart and responsible and true to yourselves. Congratulate yourselves for that.
(Can you acquire the animals if they are rehomed?)

This will be just another part of your story. As you look back, it will all make sense one day.
I look at this two ways. Maybe God was protecting you from a heartbreak up ahead with the house, whatever it might be.
OR maybe you will get a call at some point from the seller wanting to make a deal.
In the meantime you have your beautiful property to love and enjoy. Your picture of the barn in the snow could be a Christmas card.
The Universe speaks in many ways. Selfishly I’m so happy you’re staying put…. And the farm animals… any chance you’d be taking them in with you? Mx
You (and we) experienced the epitome of a rollercoaster! I was halfway holding my breath while I read. My heart goes out to you both.
